PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil strainer at a cheap price in which a large filtering area and a high filtering function are secured. SOLUTION: A filtering part 5 is formed in a bottomed cylinder shape the diameter of which becomes gradually longer toward the opening end side. On the inner face of surrounding wall parts 6 of the filtering part 5, spiral grooves 7 are formed at the prescribed pitch in the center line C direction of the filtering part 5. On the outer face of the surrounding wall parts 6, a large number of vertical grooves 9 are formed on the whole periphery in such a manner that they extend along the generating line of the surrounding wall parts 6 of the filtering part 5. The total of the depth of the spiral groove 7 and the vertical groove 9, d1+d2, is set to be larger than the thickness t of the surrounding wall part 6, penetrating holes 11 penetrating in the diameter direction are formed in many places superimposed over the spiral grooves 7 and the vertical grooves 9, and these penetrating holes 11 are distributed in a mesh shape on the whole surrounding wall parts 6 of the filtering part 5.
