<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for frequently calibrating an edge sensor at a sufficient accuracy level. <P>SOLUTION: A start begins by carrying medium paper having a front edge, a rear edge and a measuring edge along a medium passage. Next, after the front edge of the paper passes through a fixed reference, the advance motion of the paper is stopped. Afterwards, the paper is moved to the medium passage so as to cross at least one edge sensor by using a paper actuator. Next, an actual position of the paper actuator and an output of at least the one edge sensor are recorded. A calibration factor is finally calculated based on the actual position of the paper actuator and the output of at least one edge sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
