PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image persistence of a liquid crystal screen without causing visual uncomfortable feeling. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 includes: a display unit 16 for displaying an image using a liquid crystal; a liquid crystal driver 15 for driving the liquid crystal of the display unit 16 according to an image signal; an aspect ratio detection unit 12 for detecting a non-display area where a certain amount of image signal are supplied and located outside of a display area of the image to be displayed from an area where the image can be displayed in the display unit 16; and a correction unit 17 for correcting the certain amount of image signal supplied to the non-display area detected by the aspect ratio detection unit 12.
