The method involves implementing an analog cross correlation between a trigger signal and a clock signal, where the cross correlation has an analog complex mixture of the produced trigger and clock signals. An analog integration is implemented in an integrator after the analog mixing. A low-pass filtering is accomplished between the analog mixing and the analog integration. The analog trigger signal is produced before mixing by differentiating in a differentiator. A comparison of the trigger signal with a trigger threshold value takes place before differentiating. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining temporal state of an analog trigger signal with respect to an analog clock signal.
