PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method for eliminating an afterimage are provided to prevent motion blur by improving the sharpness at interface through interface detection of an input stop image. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display and a method for eliminating an afterimage, an interface detection unit(130) calculates the luminance difference of an image signal at each region. The interface detection unit detects the interface of an image block. A motion vector detector(150) measures a block and the degree of special position movement. The motion vector detector detects the motion vector of the image. An FRC conversion unit(160) converts a frame rate according to the movement of the image based on the motion vector.
