An exercise device for simulating the action of paddling a kayak or canoe comprising a support frame 3, a seat 231 mounted on the support frame 3 and a paddle assembly mounted to the support frame wherein the paddle assembly comprises a paddle member coupled to a mechanical resistance device 17 by a cord and wherein the seat 21 is movably mounted to the support frame 3 to allow it to move along a curved path that is lateral to the direction of the support frame 3 such that the upper surface of the seat 21 faces towards a centre of the curvature. The seat 21 may be positioned on a beam 19 which has a roller on a curved guide 27 at one end and a ball and socket attachment 25 to the support frame 3 at the other end. There may also be means to vary the amount of friction acting on the roller. |
