1346024 Electric vapour generators J BOLOMIER E BOLOMIER and J P BOLOMIER 25 Feb 1972 [26 Feb 1971] 8762/72 Heading H5H [Also in Divisions H1 and A5] A hand-held steam or vapour generator comprises a liquid receptacle 1 with a top opening 2 and electric heating means mounted on a float 18, a conductor pin 6, connected to terminal 7 of the heating means, breaking sliding contact with a contact terminal 4 of the current input wire 5 to disconnect the heater supply when the liquid falls below a predetermined level. The heating wire 8 connects terminal 7 to the other current input wire 10 at 9 and is insulatedly mounted in a metal tube 12 sealed by a cork 13 through which pin 6 and wire 10 extend. Tube 14 surrounds a glass fibre wick 17 on tube 12 and is mounted on the float 18 of foam rubber such that opening 16 allows liquid 19 to reach the wick 17. The upper flange 15 of tube 14 has a flexible surround 21 abutting the receptacle wall. The steam generator is used for beauty care, a steam bath for the face, e.g. by a general face bath, by placing a towel on the head, inhalations, medical treatments by local application on specific parts of the body, steam cleaning, detaching wallpaper by steam, air humidifying, laundering applications as in clothes pressing and other steam treatments, with or without the addition of treating agents to the water. Mention is made of decontamination of rooms. |
