PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device including the same are provided to prevent the deterioration of the brightness by operation reflection by forming a plurality of embossing patterns. CONSTITUTION: LED chips are arranged in a domain corresponding to one side of a light guide plate(15). An optical diffusion unit is formed on one side of the light guide plate corresponding to the LED chips. An optical sheet is arranged in the upper side of the light guide plate. A plurality of embossing patterns is formed in one side of the light guide plate. The light of uniform brightness is income inside the light guide plate.
