<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to make a notation of an audio track to be referred to by the user later to perform a specific operation for the audio track. <P>SOLUTION: In a first and simplest embodiment of a basic system, there is no MHL (170). Thus, there is no need for a music marker application (160) to create and manage an MHL (170). In this first embodiment, the music marker application (160) retrieves the list of marked tracks from a media player (100) and directly interfaces with an HDD (108) to identify the marked tracks. No record of the tracks is retained in the MHL (170).
