PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which takes a problem that a recorded medium is deformed and broken by a force received from automatically moving edge guides into consideration. SOLUTION: The recording device 1 comprises the edge guides (20, 30) movable to the width direction X of the recorded media (P) for sorting side ends of the recorded media placed on a placing part (11), a motor (77) for moving the edge guides, and a first position detection means 7 for detecting a position of the top recorded medium in the laminating direction Z of the recorded media placed on the placing part (11). When the edge guides are moved to a side of approaching the recorded media by driving of the motor to one direction, the device monitors a variation amount of the position of the top recorded medium upward in the laminating direction by using the first position detection means 7. When the variation amount reaches a predetermined amount, driving of the motor to one direction is stopped so as to stop displacement of the edge guides to the approaching side.
