The present invention relates to a method for cutting a liquid crystal panel and a method for manufacturing a custom-sized liquid crystal panel using the same. The method for cutting a liquid crystal panel, which comprises an upper panel having a color filter and a lower panel having a thin film transistor, comprises the step of cutting the upper panel and the lower panel in such a manner that the cut edges of the upper panel extend outwardly beyond the cut edges of the lower panel in order to provide a stepped portion between the upper panel and the lower panel. Since the cut edges of the upper panel extend outwardly beyond the cut edges of the lower panel, the thin film transistor on the lower panel can be prevented from being damaged by the pressure of a sealant sprayed from a dispenser or by contact with the dispenser during sealing subsequent to cutting.
