The parent patent describes a drawing device in which yarn passes between a pair of freely rotatable front rolls to a pair of driven drawings rolls. The front rolls are urged together to exert and drags on the yarn and cause to be drawn. According to the improvement the front rolls have helical or parallel grooves into which the yarn seats, and the rollers are arranged so that there is no contact between them. The degree of drag on the yarn, and therefore the degree of drawing, may depend on the pitch of the helical groove. The front rollers may have helical grooves of different pitches.
