<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gaming machine capable of offering card games that allow a participant to feel a sense of satisfaction, and a controlling method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: When chips are bet on a basic game of blackjack (step S1), and then chips are bet on a side bet game (step S2), first and second cards are dealt to each of a dealer and a player for the basic game (step S3), payout for the side bet game is generated according to the contents of the established winning patterns (step S7).
