PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval device for allowing a user to find a target file through the use of one's own memory regarding a period of accessing the file, and to provide a retrieval method and a program. SOLUTION: The retrieval device 1 includes a history collecting section 2 for collecting an access time, when the user performs access to the object file and the storage place as an access history; a keyword extracting section 3 for obtaining the appearance frequency of a keyword extracted from the object file in the object file, and generating keyword data which includes the keyword and the appearance frequency and where the keyword and the frequency are associated with the object file of an extraction source; an index generating section 4 for adding a weight, whose value is changed in response to the access time of the object file and the appearance frequency of the keyword, to the keyword through the use of the access history and the keyword data, and generating index data including the keyword and the weight; and a retrieval performing section 5 for performing retrieval and reflecting the content of the index data on the retrieval result.
