PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that, when forming an image on a paper by repeating a step of transferring a toner image formed on an image holding body to the paper and fixing the toner image thereon a plurality of times, can correct a next toner image if the paper is unevenly deformed by fixing of a previous toner image, in a shape in accordance with the uneven deformation. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: an image forming part 100 which forms the image on the paper P by repeating the step of conveying the paper P in a conveying direction, transferring the toner image formed on the image holding body 10 to the paper P and fixing the toner image thereon a plurality of times; a detection part 210 which detects width of the paper P in a direction orthogonal to the conveying direction of the paper P at a plurality of points on the paper P when forming the next toner image on the paper P after the previous toner image is formed on the paper P; and a correction controller 220 which performs control of correcting the shape of the next toner image to be formed on the image holding body 10 based on a result obtained by detecting the width of the paper P at the plurality of points.
