PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, easy and inexpensive production method by improving bad yield in dehydration processes of benzyl alcohol derivatives used in production processes of liquid crystal materials. SOLUTION: The derivatives expressed by general formula (2) or general formula (4) are produced by reacting bis(trichloromethyl) carbonate with the benzyl alcohol derivatives.
