PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition which obviates the problems of safety and environment and has excellent flame retardance and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation. SOLUTION: The flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition comprises (A) a thermoplastic resin other than a polyurethane resin as a main raw material, (B) a P and N-containing non-halogen flame retardant as a flame retardant, (C) a polyhydric alcohol or a derivative thereof as an auxiliary flame retardant, and (D) a silicon compound having a weight average molecular weight of 150-10,000 selected from organoalkoxysiloxanes and organohydroxysiloxanes in which the total amount of alkoxy groups or hydroxy groups is 10-85 mass% in one molecule.
