Disclosed are a method and device for manufacturing, using simple steps, a composite fiber sheet that contains recycled grains from crushed fiber products and is suitable for application to sound-absorbing materials for vehicles and the like. The disclosed method manufactures a composite fiber sheet comprising a surface layer, consisting mainly of a cotton feedstock, and an inner layer, containing a large quantity of recycled grains. The disclosed method is characterized by the use of a web former in which two carding units are each provided with a web feedstock supply device, a main cylinder, a walker and stripper, and a web delivery conveyor, and the two carding units are arranged so as to exhibit mirror symmetry, with the discharge ends of the respective web delivery conveyors facing each other. A web feedstock containing recycled grains and a cotton feedstock is supplied to each carding unit by the aforementioned feedstock supply devices, carding is performed, and fiber webs are formed on the web delivery conveyors of the carding units. Said fiber webs have lower layers containing more of the cotton feedstock than upper layers which contain more of the recycled grains than the lower layers. At the discharge ends of the web delivery conveyors, the respective fiber webs are combined with the upper layers thereof facing each other, and bonded via a mechanical means and/or a thermal means. |
