<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte which can prepare a battery having excellent safety and excellent durability and excellent charge and discharge characteristics of high capacity and high current density, and to provide the nonaqueous electrolyte battery produced by using the nonaqueous electrolyte. <P>SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte for the nonaqueous electrolyte battery including an electrolyte and a nonaqueous solvent for dissolving the electrolyte, the nonaqueous electrolyte includes cyclic carbonate and a cyclic sulfone compound containing fluorine, the cyclic carbonate containing fluorine is 8-40 vol.% to the whole nonaqueous solvent, the total amount of a volume of the cyclic carbonate and a volume of the cyclic sulfone compound containing fluorine is 20-60 vol.% to the whole nonaqueous solvent.
