A compatible charging method includes: the type of vehicle pass card is judged at a lane exit; if the pass card is a double-sided smart card for electronic toll collection system (ETC), an on board unit (OBU) is controlled by a road side unit (RSU) of the ETC to read path information from the double-sided smart card, and the path information is uploaded by the RSU onto a charge platform to charge; Or the path information in the double-sided smart card is read by a composite card reader, and then uploaded onto the charge platform to charge.
