The attachment module is provided with a moving plunger (2) which is connected by an interface to a switching device (9) which has switching piece for switching a contact with contact material. The measuring elements (4,5) are provided for measuring the position change (3) of the plunger when the contact is closed. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring the life of a switching device.
