PURPOSE: A method and a device for reducing overhead to check integrity in a wireless communication system are provided to reduce the size of a message authentication code to check integrity of a control message and check integrity of an MPDU in the wireless communication system. CONSTITUTION: A method for reducing overhead to check integrity in a wireless communication system comprises the following steps. When a control message is received(302), identifiers of the first and second authentication keys are compared and the identifiers are valid. It is checked whether a message authentication code of the control message is valid. When the message authentication code is not valid, the frequency of generating a control message including the invalid message authentication code is counted. When the frequency of generating a control message including a invalid message authentication code is larger than a preset threshold value, an authentication key is updated.
