PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser projector capable of using a larger projection region, with respect to a scanning region where a laser beam scans, and of controlling the intensity of a laser beam, while suppressing reduction in the image quality. SOLUTION: The laser projector includes an image analysis unit 315 that analyzes an image by specifying a grayscale of an image to be formed on a projection region by laser beams emitted from LDs (laser diodes) 361, 362 in a projection section; and a detection beam display control unit 316 that allows LDs 361, 362 to emit detection beams onto the projection region in a return section, with the detection beams having an intensity that does not exceed the intensity corresponding to the specified grayscale resulting from the analysis by the image analysis unit 315, and the detection beams received by a laser detector 370 and detected by a data/grayscale conversion unit 314.
