<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device and an image display apparatus, which have high efficiency of emission. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes: a light emitting element; and a semiconductor fine particle phosphor of core/shell structure, which has a shell part absorbing at least part of the light emitted by the light emitting element.
