<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a printer while improving the convenience of the printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer has a normal power consumption state and a low power consumption state lower in power consumption than the normal power consumption state, and carries out a print job received from an information processor. The printer includes a recognizing means for recognizing a user who approaches the printer; a control means for controlling the printer to shift into the normal power consumption state when the user is recognized by the recognizing means after shifted into the low power consumption state; and a discriminating means for discriminating whether the user recognized by the recognizing means is a user who has transmitted the print job. The control means controls the printer not to shift into the normal power consumption state if the user recognized by the recognizing means is discriminated to be the user who transmitted the job by the discriminating means even when the user is recognized by the recognizing means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
