<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation in spatial resolution and the occurrence of color mixture, which are caused by electrical and optical factors, in a solid-state image pickup device using an organic photoelectric conversion film. <P>SOLUTION: Multiple pixels 21, which include multiple photoelectric conversion parts 22 and MOS transistors that selectively read out signals from the photoelectric conversion parts 22, are formed on a semiconductor substrate 11. The organic photoelectric conversion film 44 is formed on the photoelectric conversion parts 22 with an insulation film 43 interposed therebetween.
