PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of achieving miniaturization of a lens barrel to be attached. SOLUTION: The camera to which the lens barrel 20 is detachably attached includes: an imaging unit 40 picking up a subject image by receiving subject light; a translucent cover arranged on the lens barrel 20 side rather than the imaging unit 40, including a plane nearly perpendicular to an optical axis of the subject light and transmitting the subject light received by the imaging unit 40; a housing 31 forming a hermetically sealed space 35 in which the imaging unit 40 is housed with the translucent cover as a partitioning surface from external environment on the subject side in the optical axis direction of the subject light; and a camera-side light projecting and receiving unit 72 projecting and receiving light for optical transmission with a lens-side light projecting and receiving unit 81 provided in the lens barrel 20. Part of a plane parallel with the plane of the translucent cover is used as a transmission optical path for optical transmission 71A between the lens-side light projecting and receiving unit 81 and the camera-side light projecting and receiving unit 72.
