Class 100(2) An impression cylinder for a rotary printing machine, particularly for gravure printing, is constructed with layers of resilient material having gradual hardness factors diminishing outwardly, the outer layer being the most resilient. There may be three layers, the hardness factors being 90/95, 75/85 and 50/60 respectively, and the layers being secured to the cylinders and to each other by vulcanization. The thickness of the layers is graduated also, the outer layer being the thinnest. The resilient material may be rubber, artificial rubber, plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride having the nature of rubber, or, for the harder layers, ebonite or vulcanite. |
