PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that increases the speed of monochromatic copy (single-color copy) in a color MFP and a monochromatic MFP having a color scan function. SOLUTION: When a monochromatic copy mode is to be performed, a control section (100) sets a read mode in a scanner section (2) so as to enable the scanner section (2) to read an image at high speed by means of only a line sensor K, sets in an image processing section (101) an image process that can print monochromatic image information, which is sent from the scanner section (2), with a single black color in a printer section (3), and sets in the printer section (3) a monochromatic print mode that can print a black image at high speed, thereby controlling a monochromatic copy operation.
