<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit, to a minimum, damages in the optical transmission devices of a transmission system, a relay system, and a reception system caused by fiber fuse. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission device of a reception system includes: between an exciting light-generating means and a synthesizing means, a fiber fuse-stopping means for stopping propagation of fiber fuse; and between a transmission line and the synthesizing means, a fiber fuse-stopping means for stopping propagation of the fiber fuse. The optical transmission device of a transmission system includes: between a synthesizing means and a transmission line, a fiber fuse-stopping means for stopping propagation of fiber fuse; and between a synthesizing means and the transmission line, a fiber fuse-stopping means for stopping propagation of the fiber fuse.
