PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to perform communication of necessary data at high speed, without causing complicated operations or operation errors. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes a plurality of memory means having different access speeds; a data determination means (#100→#103) for determining, when there is an identification code in the head of data to be received from a lens mounted removably, whether the identification code has been already stored in any one of the plurality of memory means; and a data control means (#107), when it is determined by the data determination means that the identification code has been stored, for reading data that have the stored identification code.
