PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing installation costs and installation space and preventing toner fixing failure without extremely decreasing productivity even in printing on a recording material the temperature of which is low. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of paper feeders (18 and 19); a means for managing a cumulative number of fed recording materials; a means 12 for stopping a recording material 31 on a conveyance path; a means 13 for measuring a temperature; and a means for changing a control parameter according to the result of the temperature measurement and able to control the heating temperature of at least the fixing device 16 or the paper feeders. When at least the first recording material 31 of the cumulative number of fed recording materials is fed, the recording material 31 is stopped on the conveyance path and its temperature is measured. If the measured temperature falls outside a specified range, the control parameter is changed, thus controlling the heating temperature of at least the fixing device or the paper feeders.
