The method involves determining a maximum control time of a fuel injector, through which different types of fuel are discharged. The maximum opening duration of the fuel injector is determined. The closing time for the determination of maximum control time and the maximum opening duration of the fuel injector is determined. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program; and (2) an electric storage medium for a controlling- or regulating device of an internal combustion engine.
