<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, in which the number of components is reduced by eliminating a scattering plate on a prism sheet of a backlight system, without making the production process of a polarizing plate to be stuck to a liquid crystal cell complex, and the occurrence of color unevenness is suppressed, even ifn the scattering plate is eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight system provided on a back side of the liquid crystal cell includes a light source, a light guide plate and a prism sheet disposed on the light guide plate and controlling an optical path. The polarizing plate which is to be stuck to the back surface of the liquid crystal cell comprises a polarizing element, a first protective film disposed on a face in the opposite side of the polarizing element to the liquid crystal cell and disposed facing the prism sheet, and a second protective film disposed on a face in the liquid crystal cell side of the polarizing element.
