<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image defects such as white streak and white spot, by overcoming the problem in a solid image and a half-tone image in a cleaner-less system image forming apparatus that exposes an image forming unit from below, wherein toner and carrier remaining on a photoreceptor as transfer residue are separated from the photoreceptor as a result of their contact with a scatter prevention means, with the results that they fall on the exposure opening (exposure window) of an exposure means or cross the exposure path, thereby blocking an electrostatic latent image. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a receiving member between the abutment between the photosensitive drum and the scatter prevention means and the exposure window or exposure path of a scanner unit below the abutment in the direction of gravity. This prevents toner and carrier from being separated from the photosensitive drum by their contact with the scatter prevention means and falling on the exposure window or exposure path.
