PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve nonconformities due to overheating of a filament, while avoiding increase in cost. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp includes a glass bulb 2 in the inside of which a discharge medium is enclosed; a stem 6 provided at the end of the glass bulb 2; a pair of lead wires 7, 7 passing through the stem 6; the one ends of which are disposed in the inside of the glass bulb 2 and the other ends of which are disposed in the outside of the glass bulb 2; a filament 8 laid between the ends of the pair of lead wires 7, 7 and disposed in the inside of the glass bulb 2; and wiring materials 9, 9 the ends of which are embedded in the stem 6 and the other ends of which are disposed in the inside of the glass bulb 2 in a noncontact state with the lead wires 7, 7.
