The invention relates to a continuously variable transmission device (40), which does not detrimentally slip under torque, and including a driveshaft (31, 32) and a driven shaft (33, 3). The two-part driveshaft includes two flanges (4, 5) arranged opposite one another and having, on the rotationally symmetrical surface thereof, an arithmetic spiral groove (6, 7). A cradle (10) rigidly connects said shaft and the flanges. An "elevator" (16) comprising a gear train (17, 18) of wheel bearings, each of which is provided with a one-way ball bearing (19, 20) contacting the flanges and the driven shaft via the power takeoff leg (13) on which it slides. The rotation of the flanges varies the position of the "elevator" in one direction, and in turn two plunger cylinders sliding on the drive shaft act in the opposite direction. The invention further relates to a device correlatively operating by means of toothed wheel and endless screw gears, and by means of a single gear pair. The device can be used in particular for vehicles.
