PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a barrier film having an inorganic barrier layer and a polymer layer on a base material film, the barrier film having stable and high gas barrier properties. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the barrier film having at least one inorganic barrier layer and at least one polymer layer on the base material film, when a coating liquid for forming the polymer layer is applied, by an application method, to the surface of the inorganic barrier layer to form the polymer layer on the inorganic barrier layer, the coating liquid for forming the polymer layer is degassed and is then applied at a temperature which is lower by 20-60°C than the boiling point of a solvent composing the coating liquid for forming the polymer layer.
