Optimizing power consumption of data centres

The present invention is concerned with field of electrical power generation and distribution. In particular, the invention relates to a system for optimizing the power consumption of a distributed data centre. The computational loaf of the distributed data centre is distributed among computing nodes of the data centre, which may be connected with different power generation facilities or different power distribution nodes of a power grid or which may consume power from different power providers. The distribution takes place such that the power consumptions of the computing nodes arc optimized with respect to each other. For example, the optimization may be with respect to the electrical load of the power generation facilities, the power distribution capacities of the power grid or with respect to the price of the consumed power.
