PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid introducing section which achieves effective disposal of waste liquid by accelerating flowage of ink disposed of in an ink throw-away groove, without carrying out bothersome and complicated work. SOLUTION: The liquid introducing section or a platen vertical section 631 comprises a guide surface forming a liquid introducing passage 635 for introducing ink, and an ink absorber 64 filled in the liquid introducing passage 635. The platen vertical section 631 is characterized in that the guide surface compresses the ink absorber 64 (a vertical section 64c) and that the compressibility of the compressed ink absorber 64 is progressively increased from an upstream side to a downstream side. Thus even if the ink absorber 64 is formed of a single material, the ink is positively introduced from the upstream side to the downstream side by virtue of capillarity, and therefore disposal of the waste ink can be effectively achieved by accelerating the flowage of the ink without carrying out bothersome and complicated work.
