<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of more easily performing energy saving operation by executing energy saving operation display contents displayed on a display part of a remote controller even by a user having no energy saving operation knowledge. <P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner transmitting/receiving information by bidirectional communications between an indoor unit and a remote control device includes: an energy saving operation possible lamp provided on the front face of the indoor unit and lit when energy saving operation of the air conditioner is permitted; an information request button provided in the remote control device and making an information transmission request to the indoor unit; and a first display part which is provided in the remote control device and on which an information signal transmitted from the indoor unit when the information request button is pressed is displayed. By pressing the information request button of the remote control device, an information request signal is transmitted from the remote control device. In response to the information request signal, the indoor unit transmits the information signal to the remote control device.
