PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater including a heat insulating function capable of appropriately maintaining water temperature even during execution of post-purge. SOLUTION: Heaters 16, 16 are provided in a water inflow pipe 8 and a hot water delivery pipe 9, and even during execution of post-purge, water temperature T1 is monitored by a first hot water delivery temperature sensor 14. When the water temperature T1 becomes heat insulating temperature or lower, the heaters 16, 16 are operated, so as to retain the water temperature T1 at the heat insulating temperature or higher. Thus, even during use in which hot water supply operation is intermittently turned on, decline in water temperature due to post-purge can be prevented, so as to provide a user for hot water of set temperature earlier than conventional cases.
