PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silver ingot which produces a silver ingot having a low chlorine content. SOLUTION: The method comprises: a melting stage where, at a crucible 4, silver powder 8 is continuously or intermittently charged to the crucible 4, and the silver powder 8 is heated and melted in a state where at least molten silver 10 is covered with charcoal 9; a first holding stage where the molten silver 10 is held by the crucible 4 in a state where the surface of the molten silver 10 in a state where all the silver powder 8 is melted is covered with the charcoal 9; and a casting stage where the charcoal 9 is removed from the crucible 4, and the molten silver 10 is cast into a mold.
