<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform OPC to a sensitive disk adapted to high speed recording. <P>SOLUTION: An evaluation value of a recorded area after a predetermined period of time elapsed since data have been recorded is obtained as an evaluation value about a reproduction signal during the reproduction of the recorded data, and recording laser power is adjusted on the basis of the evaluation value after the predetermined period of time elapsed since data have been recorded. For example, the evaluation value measured at a varying elapsed time is corrected in accordance with the length of the elapsed time.
