<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain inexpensive and reliable permanent connection for an optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: For optical fibers 10A and 10B have a connecting end surface (cleavage-end surface) 13, formed by cleaving the tip of a bare optical fiber strand section 12 formed by removing the coating of one end to which a coated optical fiber core section 11 is to be connected. (i) The cleavage end surfaces 13 are aligned and butted on each other so that the core centers face each other using an optical fiber alignment mechanism, (ii) a pressure force P is applied between the optical fibers 10A and 10B so that the cleavage end surface 13 are stuck fully to each other; (iii) an adhesive 20 is injected into the circumference of the stuck cleavage end surfaces 13 in this state and are fixed; and by having the stuck state maintained by the adhesive force of the adhesive 20, permanent connection of the optical fiber is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
