PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message transmission and reception system that allows a Web browser to acquire a message stored, at a catch-up. SOLUTION: The system includes the message relay server which relays transmitting and receiving of a message using a browser. The message relay server includes a response storage means 10, which stores a response to a request of message acquisition, in association with a URL contained in the request; and a URL extraction means 20 which extracts, upon receipt of a new request, the URL associated with a response corresponding to the received request from the response storage means 10; and the system further includes a request generation means 30, which generates a request of message acquisition by using the URL extracted by the URL extraction mean 20.
