SURFACE COATED CUTTING TOOL WITH HARD COATED LAYER HAVING EXCELLENT ANTI-CHIPPING PROPERTY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cutting tool whose hard coated layer exerts an excellent anti-chipping property in cutting a difficult-to-cut material. SOLUTION: In this surface coated cutting tool with a hard coated layer made of a Ti compound layer and an Al2O3layer, a plurality of recessed parts are formed so as to be in parallel to a cutting blade on the hard coated layer at a contact portion between a rake face and a work material. The recessed parts have a shape with a diameter of 30-50μm, and depth of 1-3μm. Furthermore, a plurality of the concave parts are formed at intervals of 100-200μm, thereby, a weld deposit is stably piled up at a cutting blade ridgeline part. As a result, rapid and shocking detachment of the weld deposit is restrained, so as to improve the anti-chipping property. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
