The method involves presetting motor torque (M) partly depending on a captured operating variable of a motor vehicle, where the motor torque represents a measure of counter torque resting against a drive train. Revolutions (dzEM) of an electric motor (EM) are detected as the operating variable. A sudden reduction of the counter torque resting against the train is identified or assumed depending on the revolutions while identifying rise of the revolutions. Revolutions (dzR1, dzR2) of wheels (R1, R2) are detected as the operating variable, where the wheels are connected with a drive shaft (AW).
