PURPOSE: A method for forming patterns on the front side of a package tray is provided to facilitate the manufacturing of a package tray since various patterns are formed by a molding method instead of machining processes. CONSTITUTION: A method for forming patterns on the front side of a package tray(10) comprises following steps. A core(1) is imprinted on forming sand(2), so a placing groove(a) is formed to place packed products thereon. A pattern sheet(3) is made. The pattern sheet is placed on the surface of the forming sand except for the upper edge of the placing groove. Gypsum liquid(4) is poured, so a forming mold(5) is manufactured. The patterns are formed on the front side(11) of the mold corresponding to the placing groove of the package tray. As the placing groove of the package tray and the pattern of the front surface are formed using metal material(8), a package tray mold is manufactured.
