PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it more convenient for a user to search for a scene in cases when high-speed reproduction stops before or after an image desired by the user. SOLUTION: The image data processing device for decoding and outputting data encoded by an MPEG video compression technique is equipped with a video output control unit which, once high-speed reproduction has been stopped, receives the image being outputted at the point of time of receiving an instruction to stop the high-speed reproduction and a predetermined number of images in the forward and reverse reproduction directions from the output image from a video decoder unit and outputs them as an image list. Thus, it is made more convenient for a user to search for a scene in cases when the high-speed reproduction stops before or after the image desired by the user. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
